Artists Rally for Habitat for Humanity.

Gabriele Baber / Comment on this

I am excited to let you all know that my pet project, the Habitat for Humanity "Art Tree project" is in full swing. The miniature masterpieces are flowing in to my studio every day now. I just shot this group image to show you all what we have so far. I am still accepting art pieces, so get in touch with me asap to get yours in. Habitat for Humanity is putting up a webpage featuring all the art as it comes in. We are not quite done with it yet, but you can check out online to watch the progress. http://habitat4inlandvalley.org  Right now it is with the Holiday ornament competition, but I am going to work on them to have their own spot for the tree....These things take time..

There is still a "Paint in" scheduled for Oct. 8th at San Clemente Art supply. Thanks to them for their generous donations of art supplies to hang on the tree, as well as canvases. Let's all show up and give them our support for their support..They are awesome over there, and if you have never been to San clemente Art supply, you just have to go..They have just about anything you need!

The Habitat for Humanity "ART TREE" will be on display at the Promonade Mall, in Temecula, in front of Macys from Nov. 11th through Dec 15th. Opportunity tickets will be for sale, soon on the Temecula Habitat for Humanity website and also on location at the mall. Artists who participate are welcome to reserve a table and time to come and promote themselves by contacting the Habitat for Humanity office.

The winner of the raffle, wins the tree and all that is on  it in the way of art supplies and original art. What a great opportunity! So far we have nearly 50 pieces and could use so many more to fill the tree. If you are interested in making a donation of new art supplies, miniature art, 5x7 or smaller on gallery wrapped canvas, painted on the sides, we welcome your donation. Just contact me though this blog, or my website, www.gabrielebaberart.com

Blessing all, and Happy Painting.

Thanks to all those who have participated so far.

Merchantile Gallery Showing, Old Town Temecula

Gabriele Baber / Comment on this

I have been painting furiously to get ready for my solo showing at the Merchantile Gallery in Old Town Temecula. It has been tough going as it has been so hot and I have been trying to make most of these paintings, new ones, and also plein aire, or mostly done plein air. The last four days in a row, I have painted in the morning..but with the heat, I have been struggling to get enough done to call them finished, so today I am working on finishing them up in the studio.

I have a great set up. I have a converted garage...two car garage is classroom and the single is my work space. I have a 32 inch flat screen up on the wall, so that I can put photos up on it and work from them. It is way better than working from a photo. I have found that I get frusterated working from photos anymore, and much prefer working from life, outside with all that comes with it. The bugs, the noise, the wind, the heat, the color, the confusion of information, all just pumps me up and leaves me wanting more. However, sometimes you just have to work in the studio..so having the large screen tv is the next best thing. So for me now it is back to the studio, with doors on both ends open for ventilation, and light, with stereo blaring, working on the next painting for the show that needs tweaking.
