14x20 pastel on velour paper Collection Robert Street My dear friend Barbara. She and I met many years ago and found we were kindred spirits. We went out on many reference gathering outings, sketch days, sat at shows together, and sometimes just did lunch. We always checked in with each other. She was a constant source of support for me, constantly encouragement to paint. She was there for me when my mother died, and many other times when I just needed a shoulder. Recently she passed away after a long disability. I am happy to have done this portrait for her family. I hope to do at least one more, so that each of her children have one for themselves. Barbara, you will be forever in my heart, and I hope watching from afar. I will miss you always. Gabriele  |
